Diocese of Worcester and New England

Our Diocese was created in 2004 following the historic decision of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Antioch to grant autonomous status to the Antiochian Orthodox Church in North America and recognize it as a Self-Ruled local Church. The former regional system of the Archdiocese was then converted to a Diocesan structure and the New England Region became the Diocese of Worcester and New England. The Diocesan Cathedral is St. George in Worcester. On December 11th 2011, Archimandrite John Abdalah was consecrated as the first Antiochian Orthodox bishop of New England. Bishop +JOHN is a son of our parish and his ancestors are among the founders of St. George parish. Our Diocese consists of eleven parishes served by fourteen priests and seven deacons.
